Separation of DNA and RNA using gel filter chromatography.
In this process, the separation column is a gel consisting of pore-covered granules. The molecules of the liquid fall into the pores, as it were. The pores and granules have a set diameter. Larger particles such as DNA do not fit into the pores will take the faster route along the granules. And arrive earlier at the bottom of the gel. The smaller the particles(RNA), the more often they will fall into the pores, and the longer they will take to reach the bottom of the column.
The kit contains a LypoSample mix consisting of RNA and DNA. This is separated and then analyzed via agarose gel electrophoresis.
The kit contains: DNA/RNA lyposample mix, dry matrix, elution buffer, chromatography columns, agarose, gel loading solution, buffer and Instastain blue, safe dye.
Also needed: electrophoresis apparatus with power supply, stand material, micropipette and a microwave or heating plate, 5 or 10 ml pipettes, balance, white light visualization system and distilled water
