In this experiment, students will investigate the biological process of bacterial transformation using E.coli and plasmid DNA. By the end of the activity, students will have experience observing and analysing ampicillin (antibiotic) resistance and fluorescence as demonstrated by the transformed bacterial cells.
GFP = Green fluorescent proteins (proteins)
Material: for 10 groups
Time duration: preparation approx. 50 minutes, overnight incubation time, transformation approx. 15 minutes

Kit contains bactobeads from (harmless) E coli GFP host, Fluorogreen plasmid DNA, Ampicillin, IPTG, CaCl2, sterile luria Agar, small and large Petri dishes, sterile toothpicks, sterile entogen em microcentrifuge tubes.
Also needed: micropipettes with pipette tips, two water baths, thermometer, incubator, pipetting pump or balloon, ice, marker pen, burner/heating plate or microwave, heat-resistant
resistant gloves, UV lamp (long wavelength)
Note: Some kit components need to be stored frozen.
