In this experiment, students will gain an understanding of how the three-step polymerase chain reaction (PCR) works.
Using PCR and agarose gel electrophoresis, they will analyse a small portion of Lambda DNA in a time-saving two-step process that reduces PCR time from 70 to 30 minutes.
Kit contains: PCR EdvoBeads, LypoPrimer Mix, DNA Ladder, LypoTemplate Lambda DNA, TE buffer, UltraSpec-Agarose, Electrophoresis Buffer (50X), 10 X Gel loading solution, Ethidium Bromide, FlashBlue dye, Microcentrifuge and PCR tubes.
Also required: electrophoresis apparatus, Thermocycler, micropipette 5-50 μl, UV or Blue Light Transilluminator, 2 Water Baths, (if the experiment is performed with a Thermocycler), White Light Box (optional), Microcentrifuge and microwave or heating plate.
