The spirometer measures the maximum exhalation capacity of your lungs PEF (peak expiratory flow) as well as FEV1.
FEV1 is an abbreviation which means Forced Expired Volume in the first second.
The measurement itself:
- Prepare the spirometer
- Take a standing position.
- Two short beeps indicate that the meter is ready for use.
- Take a deep breath
- Cover the mouthpiece with your lips (tightly).
- Blow as hard as possible
- A long beep confirms that the measurement has been made.
- The results are displayed on the screen. Two short beeps indicate a new measurement.
- It is recommended that you make 3 measurements in a row. The best result is saved.
- Switch off the device
