The Go Direct conductivity sensor determines the concentration of ions in an aqueous solution based on its electrical conductivity. A built-in temperature sensor allows both conductivity and actual temperature to be read. Automatic temperature compensation allows students to calibrate at school and measure in the field at varying temperatures without affecting the measurement. Temperature compensation can be switched off to investigate the dependence of conductivity on temperature. A continuously varying current in the electrode prevents polarisation and electrolysis and contamination of the sample. The ABS housing and graphite electrode prevents corrosion as often occurs with metal electrodes. Possible experiments: diffusion of ions through membranes, investigation of ions and molecules, strong and weak acids, measurement of the TDS value (Total Dissolved Solids). The rechargeable battery ensures long-term measurement capability. Should the battery nevertheless run low, simply connect the charging cable and continue measuring without interruption or data loss. In the Vernier Graphical Analysis app, the battery status can always be read. The Go Direct conductivity sensor pairs directly with your smartphone, tablet, Chromebook or PC using the free Vernier Graphical Analysis app with bluetooth or a USB cable. No additional software or interfaces are required.
