This solution allows students to gain experience of fault finding on several analogue and digital systems.
Students first learn how to use test equipment and test the major groups of active and passive components. Then students are given a fully working circuit so that they can understand the circuit’s function. Supervisors then insert one of a number of faults on each circuit and the student must deduce the fault through the use of the appropriate instruments.
Faulty components are clearly marked underneath the carrier. Five fully tested and assembled circuits supplied.
Learning objectives / experiments:
• Safety in fault finding
• Using multimeters
• PC based oscilloscopes
• Testing diodes and transistors
Fault finding circuits:
• Combinational logic circuit
• Counter circuit
• Motor control circuit
• Regulated AC power supply circuit
• Astable multivibrator
• Class C transistor amplifier circuit
