Understanding the wave properties of electromagnetic waves (such as light), sound or other forms of waves using water. The wave tank provides a demonstration of the general properties of waves and their propagation.
The waves can be viewed stationary or slowly moving via the synchronisation function. The wave patterns can be observed from the front using the supplied mirror in a 45-degree arrangement, through the supplied frosted glass plate or projected on the wall....
Applications for the wave tank:
Reflection and refraction. Reflection and refraction are demonstrated by using different barriers in the water to create flat parallel waves
Interference: Occurs when two pointed dippers produce circular waves. The distance between the wave emitters and the frequency can be controlled
The famous double-slit experiment: when plane waves hit a barrier with two holes, they will behave like two point wave emitters and thus form the same interference pattern
Doppler effect
The complete wave box consists of the following parts (parts available as spare parts are listed by part number):
221101 Strobe unit (Can also be used in an upgrade of our previous model of wave tank 221050)
