Uricult is a dipslide method to detect bacteria and yeasts in urine or water.
The dipslide has an agar solution on both sides. On one side there is CLED medium, and on the other side red-brown MacConkey. The CLED medium is non-selective on which all bacteria and yeasts can grow that can cause a urinary tract infection.
The MacKoney medium contains bile salts which makes the gram positive bacteria grow very poorly on it.
By comparing the two sides, a distinction can be made between gram negative and gram positive bacteria.
The dipslide is attached to the lid of the container making it very easy to use. Simply dip it in the urine and place it in an incubator for 18 to 24 hours at 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
Packed per 10 pieces, can be kept for about 4 months.
