This DNA kit (MDnA-060-22) with 22 base pairs theoretically allows for more than 17 trillion combinations.
This makes the model ideally suited to explain the forensic DNA investigation technique, specifically the "touch DNA method", a refinement of the PCR technique.
With this model, splicing of DNA for replication can also be properly shown.
DNA model consisting of 22 base-pair layers. A clear model of DNA to view the double helix structure.
The model contains 22 base-pairs consisting of:
11 thymine (T) orange
11 adenine (A) blue
11 guanine (G) green
11 cytosine (C) yellow
Deoxyribose (red)
Phosphate (purple)
The base pairs can be mounted on the holder using the transparent beads as spacers (have no further meaning) or assembled separately.
A special fitting ensures that T fits only on A and G only on C. Wrong pairs can therefore not be formed.
1 cm = 2 Angstrom.
Dimensions: approx. 11cm diameter x 44cm height
