This equipment is used in free fall experiments, showing the independence of the mass of the falling object, testing the equations of motion. Even the situation where aerodynamic drag is no longer negligible can be covered. The free fall apparatus works with the 2002.50 electronic counter or the 2002.60 student timer. Connections are done with standard 4 mm safety connector. The release mechanism at the top sends a start pulse to the timer when the ball is released, and a stop pulse is generated when the ball hits the contact plate at the bottom. No external power supply is needed – no risk of overheated coils. Four gold-plated steel balls and a ping-pong ball with metal thumb tacks are provided. Also included is a mirror to minimize parallax errors. Cables and stand not included.
